First off, we are very grateful due to the support of one of our members that our clubroom space is expanding from the 30th September. We are taking over the unit next door to our main room which will give us another 330sq feet to increase our operations.
It even has double door access to the main room so essentially it will just be an extension of that space.
This will quickly be utilised as we finally received our new club layout boards from DCC train automation on Friday night. Laser cut using strong, but light poplar ply, these boards will be put together over the next few weeks. Construction of the new 00/009 exhibition layout should now make good progress over the winter months.
In other news, construction of layouts at the clubroom has continued apace.
Milford Park has now had its lighting pelmet constructed by David and John.
The Cornish Lines project (Wadebridge & Padstow) had seen the completion of new beams constructed. We are now in the process of making the new trestles for which the beams sit in to support the layout on top. A jig for these trestles was made up on Friday night. This should ensure that all of them are built to the same standards.
Guineaport Road bridge has also been completed following a site visit to Wadebridge a couple of weeks ago. This nicely frames the end of the layout.
St Ann has seen serious cork and track laying take place and the formation is now shaping up well. Holes for the point motors will be cut shortly before final glueing down.
Lowe Quay is progressing well. The Peco arches were received on Friday so that Colin can make a start on making the retaining wall for the back lines.
Finally, bookings for our new and larger exhibition at Thruxton on the 17th & 18th May 2025 are progressing rapidly. Please see our website for the latest on this. A new flyer will also be released shortly.
